Love does not sweep me up off the ground
Into expanding clouds of ecstasy,
only to land me swiftly back to a desolate despair.
Love does not make false promises
that provide my heart with temporary flames.
Love does not hide from me,
suddenly appearing to fill me in a whirlwind of fleeting feelings,
attached to circumstance.
Love does not leave me longing for the warmth of certainty and knowing.
Love does not hold my breath, granting connection only after tears.
Love is never found by the fearful mind.
Love is a gentle, pervasive force, eternal.
When it softly taps my shoulder, I turn to take its hand;
and as we silently dance it draws my mind into the heart,
showing me beyond good and bad.
Love doesn’t wait for me to be whole.
Love shows me that
I am.
